Questa volta non si tratta di una recensione né di una scheda libro di prossima uscita. O, ancora, di qualche rubrica del blog.
Bensì, come suggerito dal titolo dell'articolo, di commenti a determinate citazioni di una delle mie autrici preferite al momento, quella che per me è la regina del genere fantasy.
Sì, sempre lei: Sarah J. Maas .
Dunque, al momento, tre sono le serie di questa scrittrice:
Il trono di ghiaccio , incompleta al momento in Italia, ma conclusa in lingua originale;La corte , questa è particolare, perché è sia conclusa che incompleta (persino in lingua originale). Sì, perché se dovessimo fare riferimento alle "avventure" della coppia principale, allora si tratterebbe di una serie conclusa (sia in inglese che in italiano). Diversamente, per quanto concerne le altre coppie intraviste, questa è incompleta, in ambedue le lingue. Spero vivamente che il prossimo di questa serie abbia come protagonista Cassian. Anche perché queste parole devono avere un seguito:
“I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time. That I did not have time with you, Nesta. I will find you in the next world - the next life. And we will have that time. I promise.”
TRADUZIONE : "Non ho rimpianti nella mia vita, tranne questo. Che non abbiamo avuto tempo. Che non ho avuto tempo con te, Nesta. Ti troverò nel prossimo mondo, nella prossima vita. E avremo tempo. Te lo prometto."
Crescent City , trattasi di una nuova serie, che tra parentesi devo ancora leggere
L'ultimo romanzo, stand-alone, è, però, parte di una serie che coinvolge diversi autori che riportano/creano avventure con protagonisti supereroi adolescenti (da quel che ho capito). Il volume che riguarda questa autrice è incentrato sulle avventure di Catwoman, che, personalmente è brutto dirlo, non mi intriga.
Preferisco leggere avventure con protagonisti i fae.
Comunque dicevo, dopo questo excursus, Sarah J. Maas ha commentato alcune citazioni tratte dal primo volume della sua serie "
Il trono di ghiaccio ", che riporto qui di seguito:

L'unica cosa che tutto quel disorientamento voluto aveva raggiunto era che la faceva familiarizzare con la struttura. Idioti.
☞ Commento : This line still makes me smile, even so many years after first writing it!. It’s such classic Celaena/Aelin—showing her smarts, her training, but also her sass. One of the things I love most about her is that she’s a survivor, and at this point, she’s just spent a year in one of the worst places imaginable. Yet she still has this spark of humor to her, something that even Endovier couldn’t destroy. So even though this line makes me laugh, it also reminds me of her strength and will to survive against all odds. It’s strange, because even though she’s a character in my head, I still find myself inspired by her—and have often drawn strength in tough situations by wondering “What would Aelin do?” (I am such a dork!)
TRADUZIONE : Questa riga mi fa ancora sorridere, perfino molti anni dopo averla scritta! E' tipico di Celaena/Aelin mostrare la sua intelligenza, il suo addestramento, ma anche la sua insolenza. Una delle cose che più amo di lei è che è una sopravvissuta e in questo punto particolare, ha trascorso un anno in uno dei peggiori posti immaginabili. Tuttavia ancora mantiene quella scintilla di humor, qualcosa che persino Endovier non è riuscito a distruggere. Così anche se questa riga mi fa ridere, mi ricorda anche la sua forza e a sopravvivere contro tutte le probabilità. E' strano perché anche se è un personaggio nella mia testa, mi ritrovo ancora una volta ad essere inspirata da lei e talvolta ho persino tratto forza in alcune situazioni pensando: "Aelin cosa avrebbe fatto?"

Ancora, l'immagine avrebbe perseguitato i suoi sogni per tutta la notte: una ragazza incantevole che guardava le stelle e le stelle che la ricambiavano.
☞ Commento : I’ve always loved this quote, and love that it’s resonated with other people! The stars play a big role in this series—the Lord of the North constellation being the biggest one of them—and are quite closely tied to Aelin’s character and her development. This is really the first time we see that connection, and get a hint that she’s far more than she seems. It’s a moment of hope for her, and sorrow, and rare moment of vulnerability that sets the stage for what’s to come in later books with her character growth.
TRADUZIONE : Ho sempre amato questa citazione e amo che abbia una tale risonanza nelle altre persone. Le stelle giocano un grande ruolo in questa serie - la Costellazione del Signore del Nord è la più grande - e sono strettamente legate al personaggio di Aelin ed alla sua crescita. Questa è veramente la prima volta che vediamo quella connessione e abbiamo uno scorcio del fatto che lei sia molto più di quello che sembra. E' un momento di speranza per lei, ma anche di dolore ed un raro momento di vulnerabilità, che combacia con lo scenario al quale è destinata nei volumi seguenti con la crescita del suo personaggio.

Le librerie erano piene di idee - forse le più pericolose e potenti di tutte le armi.
☞ Commento : Libraries have always been magical to me. I can’t quite explain why, but I’ve always felt like there was a power in every library I went to (especially old, beautiful ones!). That sense of so many stories, somehow living all around me—and so much knowledge, just a touch away. I swear, it creates a kind of living presence, a near-holiness that I can feel in my entire body every time I enter a library. It can feel like entering a sacred space, actually. Come to think of it, all of my various series have featured different libraries (the one in Tower of Dawn is a favorite), just because I can’t get enough of exploring them! I’ll never stop being drawn to and intrigued by them.
TRADUZIONE : Le librerie sono sempre state magiche per me. Non posso esattamente spiegare il perché, ma ho sempre sentito che c'era un potere in ogni libreria in cui andassi, specialmente in quelle antiche, bellissime. Quella sensazione che così tante storie, in qualche modo vivessero tutte attorno a me e così tanta conoscenza a portata di mano. Lo giuro, crea un genere di presenza vivente, una qualche sorta di santità che io posso sentire nel mio corpo ogni volta che entro in una libreria. Lo percepisco quasi fosse un posto sacro. Viene da riflettere, tutte le mie serie sono caratterizzate da differenti librerie (quella in "Tower of Dawn - La torre dell'alba" è la mia preferita), solo perché non ne ho mai abbastanza di esplorarle tutte! Non smetterò mai di esserne attratta ed intrigata.

☞ Commento : Music inspires almost everything that I write—and also plays a huge role in my everyday life. There are certain pieces (mostly classical music) that can literally take my breath away or render me to tears with a few notes. It can almost be an out of body experience for me, when I hear something that moves me like that. So when it came to Aelin’s love of music, that passion for it definitely came from me. Unfortunately, I have zero musical talent, so I’d say Aelin’s gift at playing the pianoforte is a sort of wish fulfillment, ha!
TRADUZIONE : La musica ispira quasi ogni cosa io scriva e gioca anche un ruolo rilevante nella mia vita di tutti i giorni. Ci sono certi pezzi (perlopiù di musica classica) che letteralmente mi tolgono il fiato o che mi riducano alle lacrime nel giro di un paio di note. E' quasi un'esperienza extracorporea per me, quando sento qualcosa che mi tocca in quel modo. Così quando è trapelato l'amore per la musica di Aelin, quella passione proveniva da me. Sfortunatamente, non ho nessun talento musicale così le ho fatto un dono, quello di saper suonare il pianoforte, come una sorta di desiderio pienamente realizzato, ah!

Lui vedeva il suo volto ogni volta che chiudeva gli occhi. Lei perseguitava i suoi pensieri, gli faceva desiderare di essere migliore e di compiere cose grandiose nel suo nome, gli faceva desiderare di essere un uomo che meritava di indossare una corona.
☞ Commento : I like to think of this as one of the big moments for Dorian starting on his journey to becoming a man and a king. Ultimately, that journey has little to do with Aelin herself, but these are the initial stirrings that make him realize how complacent he’s been with his life—and that he might become something far more than that.
Dorian is one of my favorite characters in this series, in part because he goes on this incredible journey from this sort of idle, flirtatious prince to this badass king who has to make very hard decisions. Aelin is basically the shove out the door that he needs to start that journey. And I love that even though they don’t wind up together, the bond Dorian and Aelin build in this book becomes one of the things that helps save the world by the end of the series.
TRADUZIONE : Mi piace pensare di questo come ad uno dei più grandi momenti per Dorian, ossia di iniziare un suo viaggio per diventare un uomo ed un re. In definitiva questo viaggio ha poco a che fare con Aelin stessa, ma questi sono i passi iniziali per renderlo consapevole di come è stato fin troppo compiacente nella sua vita e che potrebbe diventare qualcosa di più di questo. Dorian è uno dei miei personaggi preferiti in questa serie, in parte perchè ha compiuto un incredibile viaggio da questa sorta di inattività: da un principe che flirta costantemente ad un re determinato che potrebbe compiere delle scelte difficili. Aelin è di base colei che gli ha mostrato la porta, di cui aveva bisogno, per iniziare questo viaggio. Ed amo il fatto che anche se non stanno insieme, il legame tra Dorian ed Aelin, costruito in questo libro, diventi una delle cose che li aiutano a salvare il mondo alla fine della serie.

And beyond that, it has been such a pleasure seeing what lines resonated with you guys! It’s been ages and ages since I wrote Throne of Glass, and this was just a delightful way to remember some of those early moments! Even though my next novel, Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood, is set in a modern fantasy world (think Throne of Glass, but a few thousand years ahead, with modern technology), there are plenty of things in common with this series: a resourceful and snarky heroine, Fae princes, brooding love interests, intense action scenes, and, of course, a magic library. ;) I hope you guys love it as much as I do!

Ed oltre questo, è un piacere vedere che quali righe risuonino in voi ragazzi! Sono passati secoli da quando scrissi "Il trono di Ghiaccio" e questo è proprio un modo delizioso per ricordare alcuni di quei momenti iniziali! Persino il mio prossimo romanzo "Crescent city: Una Casa di Terra e Sangue" è ambientato in un moderno mondo fantasy (pensate al Trono di Ghiaccio, ma ambientato un paio di centinaia di anni in avanti, con la tecnologia moderna), ci sono molte cose in comune con questa serie: un'eroina piena di risorse e critica, principi Fae, interessi romantici in sospeso, intense scene d'azione ed ovviamente una magica libreria. Spero che voi ragazzi l'amerete tanto quanto me!
